As usual, we started the Friday Rice Run with picking up Sister Joan’s truck and adding air to it’s tires before heading to Makro. Carol and Willy joined the effort and we purchased rice, cooking oil, fish sauce and diapers and continued to Penang Market.

Sister Joan started buying milk formula there in 1992 and as every 2 weeks since, we purchased more from the same store. The store is owned by now elderly Thai couple and we are always greeted with smiles and affection. A few months ago we replaced 5 cans of sardines Sister used to include in the Rice Run package with a bag of dried pork. Getting that was the last stop on our shopping trip…

We left the loaded car in Boss Mansion and a few hours later our volunteers went there to pack the bags of donations and drive them to Rang Moo.

Rice Run distribution went easy as it has been going for many years. Covid pandemic forced changes of masks and distancing but the seniors still show up every two weeks to get the care package of 5kg of rice, bottles of oil and fish sauce and a bag of dried pork. A muslim member of community has pork replaced with sardines… here are mor photos from Oct 2nd Rice Run.
