    Another Milk Run event in Rong Moo and Suan Ooy communities. Adri and I were on time and ready with milk formula, baby diapers and clothes.

    We only had 8 people show up in Rong Moo from registered 33, it is hard to tell if they are away, working or possibly not informed of us being back to deliver.

    We had more luck in Suan Ooy where we gave out 18 boxes of milk formula, diapers and some baby clothes. Adri also took that lovely pic above of a young man who came out to see what are these farangs doing there… here are more shots…

    A very different Rice Run this fortnight. I decided to save time by shopping at Tesco Rama IV and that saved a lot of time.

    With shopping done, my job was done. Shannon, Servane & Josie took over. They packed the bags at Boss combining what I brought with a large donation by Best and her friends delivered several weeks ago.

    To avoid any physical contact with recipients, we created a new system of tracking. Each Rice Run we’ll use a single sheet of paper that lists all registered Thai ID numbers.

    After a 10 week break due to the third wave of Covid-19 in Bangkok we are back on the Milk Run. It was very sad that we had to pause and we’ll extend the support to registered babies for 3 months past their first birthday. We hope we can make up for the weeks they couldn’t get the baby formula.

    Adri came to help this morning but as expected there wasn’t much to do. We gave out 6 boxes of formula in Rong Moo and another 21 in Suan Ooy.

    We’re getting back into the groove of weekly events. Shannon was again the star of the Rice Run, took full charge of our effort. I met her at Boss in the early morning and we drove in her car to Makro and then to Klong Toei Market to buy the dried pork.

    Shannon dropped me off back at Boss, picked up more supplies and was off to packing in her garden.

    At 4pm Shannon and Josie started the delivery. As always, Khun Jim was there to manage the line and make sure we don’t need anything else. By the end, 64 registered seniors received their biweekly serving. Every person got 5kg of white rice, a bottle of fish sauce and cooking oil, a bag of dried pork and 5 sardines donated by Khun Best and Khun Poom.

    Shannon was amazing in spear heading this Friday the 13th Rice Run. We used her truck to go shopping for Rice Run and Milk Run items. First stop as usual was at Makro

    Our next steps were Penang Market on Rama 3 and the dried pork store nearby. Shawn then took her truck home where Paul and Eliza helped pack all supplies into individual bags, ready to distribute.

    Greg and Frisco from Bangkok Community Help came to assist Shannon, just like they did the last Rice Run. Khun Jim helped, as always. This time they gave away 64 packets that included hand sanitizer, a pack of masks, noodles and our usual bag of rice, bottles of cooking oil and fish sauce and a bag of dried pork as protein support.

    We partnered with Bangkok Community Help group to deliver help to our seniors this Thursday.

    Shannon did the shopping and packed all the food into bags at Boss. Elsa and Henry helped make everything happen fast.

    At 3:30 Bangkok Community Help arrived at Boss to load up their truck and deliver it to Rong Moo. Shannon joined them in distributing the help and give out 70 bags of help along with additional good items from Bangkok Community Help.

    She was just amazing in coordinating everything and making this unique new way of distribution happen. Here are more pics from Thursday…

    It is all Nikola and Adri, they have been amazing in showing up despite the Covid surge, despite the risk. They delivered again, this time 67 packages of rice, pork, oil and fish sauce to the registered needy of Rong Moo and Suan Ooy communities in Klong Toei.

    Adri, Nikola & I decided to put both the Milk Run and the Rice Run Projects on hold if Thailand daily Covid casualties hit 50. The situation doesn’t seem to be getting better and we want to stay safe and reasonable about the risk we take and put the Klong Toei residents under.

    Adri and Nikola did another Milk Run on Friday, Jun 18th. They registered one new baby and gave away 21 boxes of milk formula in Rong Moo and another 22 boxes in Suan Ooy.

    Bangkok registered 1218 new Covid cases on Jun 18, the 2nd highest total since the 3rd Covid wave started at the beginning of April. The trend is worsening and we’re wondering what is the moment when we may have to stop delivering help to Klong Toei… here are more pics from Jun 18

    Adri and Nikola showed up again for another Friday distribution. They have been amazing in these times of more Covid cases in Klong Toei and their volunteering has truly kept Sister Joan Evans Mission in Klong Toei going uninterrupted.

    They gave out 67 bags of rice, cooking oil, fish sauce and dried pork to our registered seniors who need support so much.

    Earlier in the day I went shopping for Rice Run and Milk Run supplies. Sister Joan’s order, the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary keeps providing the funds for what we deliver to Klong Toei. They have been incredible in their commitment to Sister Joan’s work and a real pleasure to work with. Another reason I and so many other volunteers show up to help the poor.     Another milk distribution by Nikola and Adri – they have been carrying Sister Joan’s Mission since the end of April.

    They gave away 27 boxes of milk formula to registered moms in Rong Moo community and another 10 in Suan Ooy. There were no new registrations this time. Many of Thais who live in these two of 39 communities in Klong Toei slum have been already vaccinated and Covid cases in the slum are dropping. Still, people are very careful, everyone is wearing a mask, most are keeping social distancing.

    Thank you Adri and Nikola for a great job and your compassion and support of those in need. Showing up, week after week for those people.
