The Rice Run project serves the elderly, typically over 60 years old, often living alone. This program started in late 1990s as a donation of rice to the needy and evolved in early 2000s into a more substantial help to registered recipients. Every 2 weeks, they receive a 5kg bag of rice, dried pork, a bottle of fish sauce and a bottle of cooking oil. Often, we will add more items donated by different individuals or organizations.
Events in the Rice Run take place every 2nd Friday at 4pm in Rang Moo community of Klong Toei slum. This is a Google Maps link to where we meet: https://maps.app.goo.gl/RCYSXM2dBkjPBF1g6

This was Claire’s last Rice Run for a while – thank you so much Claire for all the dedication and selfless work. It was done in the same manner as Sister Joan used to do it: very low key, almost as if you weren’t there. But your work certainly made a big difference. 🙏🏻

Miron joined me for the shopping part of this Rice Run.
In the afternoon, volunteers from SILC are coming to help with every Rice Run distribution these days. We delivered all 60 packages of rice, cooking oil, fish sauce and dried pork to our registered Thai seniors.

Another hour April day… I did the shopping part alone and left the packed car in Rong Moo.

I was alone on this shopping trip in early April.
In the afternoon, 3 of our volunteers and 3 of SILC members delivered 61 food packages to our registered seniors from Klong Toei. KJ took these beautiful pics. There is a real talent there. 🥰

In the afternoon, Claire led the effort. They delivered for packages to all of our 61 registered Thai recipients.

In the afternoon we had a full team show up for the distribution.

Pete came to help me shop for this Rice Run.
As usual, we left the car parked in Rong Moo for the volunteers to open and distribute the rice, coming oil, fish sauce and dried pork to our Thai seniors.
After looking for a way for many years, this Thai man decided to come to the Rice Run distributions and donate to each of our registered recipients a pack of fresh eggs.
