The Rice Run project serves the elderly, typically over 60 years old, often living alone. This program started in late 1990s as a donation of rice to the needy and evolved in early 2000s into a more substantial help to registered recipients. Every 2 weeks, they receive a 5kg bag of rice, dried pork, a bottle of fish sauce and a bottle of cooking oil. Often, we will add more items donated by different individuals or organizations.

Miron and Soe came to help this time and we were like a well oiled machine – finished loading the car in the record time.
Audrey led the effort in the afternoon and Sister Cecilia came to help as well. But the end of the day, all of the 63 food packets of rice, fish sauce, coming oil and pork were gone. Unfortunately: no pics from the distribution effort…

Another Rice Run Friday… Miron, Soe and I went shopping and preparing the truck for the afternoon delivery.
Later, Audrey and her volunteers delivered 61 packages of rice, fish sauce, cooking oil and dried pork to our registered Thai seniors.

Soe came to join Miron and me on this Rice and Milk Run products shopping trip.
We completed everything but 12 noon and Miron went back to Rong Moo at 4 pm to help with delivery.
60 of our registered 63 Thai recipients came to collect their bi-weekly food assistance.

This Songkran week Rice Run was different. With Shannon and Paul gone and Audrey away for the Holiday, I volunteered to do the shopping and the distribution too. Fortunately, i was not alone!
Amazingly, over so many years, kind people keep showing up to land a hand, week after week… Sister Joan designed both the Milk and Rice Run so it is easy for anyone to jump in and help…
