Rice Run Mar 19, 2021

We served 72 seniors with rice, fish sauce, cooking oil and dried pork on March 19th. Shannon led the afternoon distribution while May and I did the most unusual shopping trip in the morning. We had one mishap after another and were relieved once we arrived back at Boss.

The first cart onto which we loaded rice collapsed under the load so we had to move all 70+ bags to another shopping cart. Once loaded, it’s wheel also broke under the load. Pampers we usually buy were not available this time, the oil was also short and when at the check out, the cashier girl rung them separately so we ended up with two receipts… Makro changed their parking system so despite spending over $300 we ended up having to pay for the parking… In all, it was not a fun visit and a great reminded how well we usually have it.

Back in Rong Moo, it all went well and we’re looking forward to re-registering the seniors for the 2021 portion of the Rice Run program. We are looking for a native Thai speaker who could volunteer time to visit the homes of the recipients with us. If you know anyone who would like to volunteer several afternoons in April, please let us know… Here are more images from the Rice Run…
