It was just over 5 years ago that Sister Joan left Bangkok and since we did our first Rice Run without her. This Friday I went shopping alone for Rice Run & Milk Run supplies with plenty of time to reminisce.
In these five years, Sister Joan Evans Mission delivered over 8,000 food packages to the poor, 4,000 boxes of baby milk formula and sponsored tuition of 6 students from Klong Toei in finishing high school and the first year of university. Many volunteers came and left but the spirit of Sister Joan’s work is intact and going on since 1991 when she started her Klong Toei slum Mission.

Sister’s truck from 2001, donated to her by Meagan is still serving well and it got me back to Boss in no time. I left it parked there for other volunteers too pack the donations at 3 and start distributing at 4pm.

Shannon and volunteers gave out 69 bags that included packets of instant noodles in addition to the usual 5kg of rice, bottles of cooking oil and fish sauce and a bag of dried pork. Here are more pics from Fri, Oct 22nd…
