The Rice Run project serves the elderly, typically over 60 years old, often living alone. This program started in late 1990s as a donation of rice to the needy and evolved in early 2000s into a more substantial help to registered recipients. Every 2 weeks, they receive a 5kg bag of rice, dried pork, a bottle of fish sauce and a bottle of cooking oil. Often, we will add more items donated by different individuals or organizations.

Sister Cecilia came from Ratchaburi to help on this Friday. Claire, Willy and Janna were also there for the afternoon distribution.
I did the shopping alone, Sapee is in Burma and other volunteers were busy in the morning so I had lots of time to take the truck for it’s regular wash before heading to Makro to fill it up.
In the afternoon, we delivered 54 sets of rice, oil, fish sauce and dried pork to our registered Thai seniors. Here are more pics…
Back on regular schedule and with Sister Joan’s truck running so smoothly, we had a wonderful Rice Run on the 6th.
Hiroko and Crystal came to help on the shopping trip and made it look so easy.
We left the car loaded and ready in Rong Moo. In the afternoon, Claire was joined by first time volunteers Penny, Michi and Gabriel.
They distributed 57 sets of rice, oil, fish sauce and pork to our registered Thai seniors. Here are more pics!
I picked up Sister’s truck from Nissan Service and drove straight to Bus Terminal Eastern to meet with Michi. We continued to Makro where Miron came to meet us and help with the shipping.
Claire, Shannon and Crystal delivered our food packages in the afternoon to all 58 of our registered Thai seniors. Another successful event!
This was a Rice Run to remember. Sister Cecilia came to help and so did 3 new volunteers.
But our 22 year old truck couldn’t make it today so we had to leave it at the Sacred Heart Convent.
We split into two groups, Hiroko and I went and got my truck and Sister Cecilia took the other two volunteers to Makro and started the shopping trip.
In the end, it all worked well because Shannon brought her big car and loaded up all the supplies we left at Boss storage room.

Sapee and I did the shopping in the usual, easy fashion…
…. and left the loaded car in Rong Moo. In the afternoon, Shannon, Willy and Martel came and distributed 57 packages to our registered senior Thais.
Sapee and I went shopping for Rice and Milk Run supplies and peaked the filled car in Rong Moo by 11am.
Shannon couldn’t lead the troops this week but Martel and her husband David jumped in. Adri made time to come to help at a Rice Run – she’s at every Milk Run as well!… A great team effort!
Sapee and I went shopping this sunny morning and finished at Makro by 10:30.
We purchased dried pork at Klong Toei market and while driving to storage room to organize the car for the afternoon distribution, Sisters car started to overheat.
Fortunately, after it cooled off on the side of the road, it was okay to drive to Boss and then to Rong Moo.
In the afternoon, Sophie, Shannon and Willy came to deliver 56 packets of food to our registered seniors.

Sapee and I did a very fast shopping trip, it was all done in 2 hours!
